Join our friends at All Those Creative at Oklahoma Contemporary as we host local creative industry leaders who will provide 1-on-1 feedback on portfolios and resumes. Reviewers will include industry seniors, freelancers, creative directors, and educators from these fields: Graphic Design/Creative/Illustration, UX/UI design, Videography/Motion Graphics, Copy, and Photography. Participants can come with their portfolios and resumes ready to be reviewed by a creative expert they select a session with.

FREE for members | $15 for GA (+$2.50 fee)

  • Doors open at 5:30pm for attendees to schedule their reviews.

  • These will be first come first serve for session signups.

  • Each participant can sign up for one to three 20 minute sessions with a professional.

After nearly 20 years in Los Angeles, she moved to Tulsa through the Tulsa Remote program, bringing experience from projects like America’s Got Talent and Behind the Music. She’s directed a film starring Cedric the Entertainer and John Salley and appeared in national campaigns for Nissan, Sony, and Apple. As a consultant with Voyage Media, Jasmine helps creators develop and pitch their stories while championing Oklahoma’s growing film community.

SECOND ASSISTANT DIRECTOR with Jordan Wilson 
A Second Assistant Director (Second AD) course will cover the essential duties of supporting the First AD in managing the logistics and paperwork of a film production. Participants will learn how to create and distribute call sheets, manage talent scheduling, and coordinate with various departments to ensure a smooth production flow. The course will also focus on developing the skills needed for setting up and managing the base camp, including talent check-in and handling daily production reports. Additionally, students will gain practical skills in communication, scheduling adjustments, and troubleshooting on-set challenges.

Writing Commercial/Popular Fiction

Tuesdays, November 4, 11, 18, (skipping November 25), and December 2, 2025

This workshop will cover what popular fiction is and why readers want it.

Attendees will learn the history of storytelling and how when written affectively it will engage readers page after page and result in work that sells.

  • They will learn how to write like a reader and read like a writer.

  • They will study the art of creating good characters, plot and pacing.

  • And they will learn about the different popular genres and why they are popular.

By the end of the workshop they will submit a 10-15 page first chapter and a summary book description for peer-critique and instructor critique.

 

Featuring Instructor:  Lauren Smith

USA Today Bestselling Author Lauren Smith is an Oklahoma attorney who writes romances, historical fiction and cozy mysteries under three pennames.

She has published traditionally and independently over 85 books and has her books translated in six languages aside from English. Connecting with readers by writing emotionally moving, and realistic stories no matter what time period is her passion.

She’s won multiple awards in several romance subgenres including: Publisher Weekly’s Booklife Prize Romance Category Winner, a Semi-Finalist award for the Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Award and a 2018 RITA ® Finalist in the Romance Writers of America Contest. Directing on a Budget

This course introduces the techniques of digital video and audio production, including basic terminology and the operation of cameras, lenses, lighting, audio recording, and digital editing equipment.

Through lectures, screenings, and hands-on exercises, we will explore the relevant production aesthetics and practices of digital filmmaking.

Students shall be able to apply knowledge gained from class into filmmaking, television, podcasts, and marketing and learn how to create their projects economically.

COURSE GOALS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES:

After taking this course, students shall demonstrate a firm grasp and understanding of:

  • The basic technical skills and fundamentals involved in digital video and audio

  • The overall creative process, including pre-production, production and post-production

  • Pre-Production paperwork including shot lists, overheads and call sheets

  • Aesthetic choices that impact composition, style, genre, and production design

  • Proper screenplay format, character development, goal cycles, act structure, and writing scripts for the short film format

  • Editing and the use of non-linear editing software

  • Critical assessment and the ability to evaluate the work of themselves and their peers from an analytical perspective

  • These micro-budget filmmaking topics shall also be explored:

    • How to create an efficient cost-saving and quality film

    • How to save money on set through planning
